NERISSA M. FERNANDEZ | September 04, 2024
LOS ANGELES, September 4, 2025 - When MYX - a premier media and entertainment brand that celebrates and champions the diverse music and artists of the global Filipino and Asian community - debuted MYX Live! four seasons ago, the idea was to showcase artists in their purest form, literally stripped down to the basics. With just a one-camera set-up, no sound amplifiers, vocal monitors or Auto-Tune, viewers get treated to intimate and unadorned performances, witnessing artists at their rawest, most authentic selves.
When MYX Live! Season 4 premieres this September 5, there will be a new set design and new lighting direction. On top of that, a twist will be introduced to the format: the featured artists must use their imagination to deliver a more unique and creative production in terms of style, fashion and visual imagery. Call it a more "artsy" configuration, so to speak.
The fresh artist line-up for MYX Live! Season 4 fits this new concept like a glove as these entertainers are known for both their respective styles and showmanship:
Episode 1 - Felip
Also known as SB19's Ken, he with the deep voice, sultry looks and swag, Felip is riding high on his group's recent milestone as the first P-pop band to win Favorite Asian Act award at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2024. But as a solo performer, he just had a successful launch of his new album, "7Sins", in the Philippines. This was followed by a CD (yes, nostalgic CD) launch of said album in Tokyo and the "7Sins the Album Concert" at the Duo Music Exchange in Shibuya. Get ready for this rock and leather glam artist!
Episode 2 - Nameless Kids
Bursting into the scene with over 600,000 plays for "Outlaws" on Spotify, indie pop band Nameless Kids followed this with over a million plays for "Sa'yo (Ang Mundo)", and on the last week of August, with the fast-rising "Gabi" which already has over 260,000 plays as of this writing. Lead singer Nhiko Sabiniano with Kim Allen on vocals and guitar and Tati de Mesa on bass are hitting milestone after milestone as one of the young acts to watch in the industry.
Episode 3 - Lola Amour
Becoming one of the hottest bands this year with the massive hit, "Raining in Manila", now with over 148 million plays on Spotify, the funk-pop act Lola Amour made history by singing its hit song live on stage with no less than Chris Martin of Coldplay in the latter's concert in Manila at the beginning of the year. A few months later, the band released its highly acclaimed self-titled album. Just over two weeks ago, the band shared the stage with the Canadian pop music duo, Crash Adams, who sang another Lola Amour hit, "Fallen", now with over 162 million plays on Spotify.
Episode 4 - DEMI
Inspired by R&B contemporaries like Kehlani and Jhene Aiko, Demi Chelsy crashed onto the music industry's radar after teaming up with Madman Stan for her hit record "homebdy". The song has over 137 million plays on Spotify and 24 million views on YouTube and counting.
Episode 5 - Darren
At 23 years old, Darren Espanto is already a 10-year veteran in the music business, having started in the inaugural season of The Voice Kids in the Philippines. Since then, he has become an award-winning recording artist, live performer, actor, host, dancer, and endorser. Darren has been travelling around the world as a highly in-demand concert performer.
Episode 6 - Janine
A finalist on the TV5 singing competition, "Born to be a Star", Janine Teñoso has turned out to be a powerhouse singer and budding actress today. Her songs, "Di Na Muli" and "Pelikula" have reached over 88 million and 107 million plays respectively on Spotify. She and Cup of Joe collaborated on "Tingin" which has landed on No. 10 on the the Billboard Philippines' Top Philippine Songs Chart two weeks ago. The song itself has garnered 137 million plays on Spotify.
Episode 7 - Maki
Singer-songwriter Maki is one of the reasons why ABS-CBN Music dominated Billboard PH's inaugural charts back in July this year. His hit, "Dilaw" made it to number one in the Top Philippine Songs chart in the week of July 6. "Dilaw" has already over 115 million plays on Spotify. Another hit, "Saan", already has over 112 million plays. Maki just released his new song, "Namumula", which is now nearing one million plays on Spotify as of this writing. The future is very bright for this alternative pop singer-songwriter.
Episode 8 - Maymay
Like Darren, Maymay Entrata's breakthrough was on a TV show, winning the reality TV series, Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. Since then, Maymay has made the headlines by gaining success as a singer, model, actress and TV host. She is also busy with international live gigs every year. She recently debuted her new single, "Paradise", live at ASAP Natin 'To in California last August.
