ABS-CBN Global to bring world-class Filipino singers Jed Madela and Reiven Umali to Hong Kong's MWO-OWWA OFW Migrant Workers Day Celebration on June 2

MANILA, May 15, 2024 - ABS-CBN Global - on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its flagship multimedia brand TFC - partners with the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Philippine Consulate General of Hong Kong to co-present with the Global Alliance of Hong Kong the TFC 30th Happy Hour at the MWO-OWWA OFW Migrant Workers Day festival on June 2, Sunday, at Chater Rd, Hong Kong.
The event is also a celebration in advance of June 12 which is the 126th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day.
June 7 was declared as National Migrant Workers Day in the Philippines in 1995 when Republic Act 8042 or the Migrant Workers Act of 1995 was signed into law. It emphasizes the huge contributions made by the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in nation-building and the Philippine government's continuing support for their welfare.
ABS-CBN TFC - which has been in the service of the Filipino everywhere since its inception - honors the celebration in Hong Kong on June 2 by bringing the best of Filipino talent as represented by Jed Madela and Reiven Umali to perform at the TFC Happy Hour of the event.
Jed became the first Filipino to win the top prize of the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) when he bested over 3,000 contestants from 52 countries in 2005. Aside from winning international singing contests, Jed went on to garner success as a recording artist, TV host, live performer, songwriter and even mentor to aspiring singers. Born in Iloilo, this phenomenal countertenor is hailed by media as "The Singer's Singer" and "The Voice".
Reiven captured many hearts via his showstopping performances on 'It's Showtime's Tawag ng Tanghalan" where he was hailed as the grand champion in 2021. Prior to winning the top plum, he was a six-time defending champion from the daily rounds to the quarterfinals. After his big victory, Reiven became a familiar face on top shows like "ASAP Natin 'To" and "Magandang Buhay".
The MWO-OWWA OFW Migrant Workers Day festival on June 2, Sunday, at Chater Rd, Hong Kong offers lots of entertainment, Filipino food and drinks. Activities include a collective street dance from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, Rakrakan sa Daan with Filipino bands plus Battle of the Bands, OFW Got Talent Grand Finals, Zumba, Line Dancing and more.
