[Vancouver, BC] — Mabuhay House Society is heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred during the Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party. We extend our deepest condolences to the families mourning the loss of their loved ones, and our prayers and support to those who have been injured and impacted.

In this time of profound grief, we are moved by the spirit of Bayanihan — the Filipino tradition of collective unity and support — that continues to rise across our community. We have witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of compassion, care, and solidarity — not only from Filipino organizations and leaders, but from many other groups and individuals across communities who have stepped forward to offer help, resources, and unwavering support.

We are deeply grateful to the first responders, emergency personnel, and healthcare providers whose swift and courageous actions saved lives. We also thank representatives across all levels of government and political parties who have shown support and compassion during this difficult time. Your solidarity reminds us of the strength we find when we stand together.

At Mabuhay House, we remain committed to our role in supporting our community. Our current focus is twofold:

1. Connecting those affected with emergency services and trauma-informed support.
  • City of Vancouver has set up a 24-hour assistance centre at Douglas Park Community Centre, 801 West 22nd Avenue, to support people affected by the tragedy. Anyone unable to attend can call 604-717-3321 for assistance.
2. Creating and sharing opportunities for collective healing and community care.
  • Collection of community-compiled resources

As we move forward, we call on everyone to continue standing together — in compassion, resilience, and hope. This tragedy has left deep wounds, but it has also revealed the strength and solidarity that define our community.

Mabuhay House stands with the Filipino community - today and every day. Together, we will heal. Together, we are stronger.
