Filipino Fashion with Purpose Takes the Stage in Christchurch
House of Musa’s Autumn Runway Brings Cultural Pride and Ethical Fashion to Aotearoa Christchurch, New Zealand – [18 April 2025] – Global eco-fashion brand House of Musa is proud to present its most anticipated event of the year– the Autumn Runway: Empowering Eco Fashion, happening on May 17, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the architectural landmark Cardboard Cathedral in Christchurch.
This is more than a fashion show– it’s a cultural movement. Rooted in Filipino heritage and powered by purpose, House of Musa blends sustainability, representation, and luxury into a single statement: Fashion can be a force for change.
A Fabric That Empowers
At the heart of House of Musa is the Musa fabric– a handwoven textile made from discarded banana fibres, skillfully crafted by women inmates of the Davao Penal Colony in the Philippines. What starts as agricultural waste becomes a symbol of transformation, empowerment, and dignity– woven by hands that deserve a second chance and a spotlight.
The Autumn Runway will feature 21 models walking in custom-designed House of Musa pieces, each embodying the artistry and resilience of the communities that brought them to life.
From Global Recognition to Local Representation
House of Musa has made its mark on the international stage, with features in British Vogue, and showings at New York Fashion Week and Los Angeles Fashion Week. With a presence in 12 countries, including the Philippines, USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, China and Thailand, the brand has built a reputation for merging style with substance.
Now, it’s New Zealand’s turn.
With a thriving Filipino community in Aotearoa, House of Musa is ready to grow its presence in the region– not just to bring high fashion, but to represent culture, amplify unheard stories, and create new possibilities in the fashion industry.
