The Embassy convened a virtual consultation meeting with the Philippine Consulates General in the United States on 05 December 2023 to review consular requirements and processes.
Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the USA (Washington D.C., Agana, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York) follow an overarching framework for the conduct of consular services, and have developed specific mechanisms for their respective operations and clientele over time, thus marking some differences on the requirements and processes for consular transactions.
Highlighting the importance of bridging this gap, the meeting aimed to simplify requirements and processes, provide a common standard for consular documents, and minimize potential redundancies for the benefit of the more than 4.2 million-strong Filipino-American community.
The meeting also discussed labor and assistance to nationals issues to further enhance the promotion and protection of the rights of Filipinos in the US.
