Saskatchewan International Film Festival (SIFF) holds inaugural year on Dec 4 to 11 with a hybrid platform
The in-person Opening Gala on December 4 will be held at The Broadway Theatre while the Awards Night red-carpet event on December 11 will be at The TCU Place, both in the city of Saskatoon.
Saskatchewan, Canada will have its first-ever Saskatchewan International Film Festival on December 4 to 11. The in-person Opening Gala on December 4 will be held at The Broadway Theatre while the Awards Night red-carpet event on December 11 will be at The TCU Place, both in the city of Saskatoon. Tourism Saskatoon CEO Stephanie Clovechok will be the guest speaker at the Opening Gala. Those who have confirmed attendance to date are Saskatoon City Mayor Charlie Clark, Regina City (Saskatchewan's capital) Mayor Sandra Masters, and Humboldt City Mayor Michael Behiel. Philippine Consul General for Alberta and Saskatchewan Zaldy Patron will be the guest speaker at the Awards Night, as the organization is composed of Filipino-Canadians. Emcees are Filipino business awardee Jeanny Buan, Miss Canada-Universe 2017 Jacqueline Marsh, and Indian actor/model Ansh Chawla.
According to SIFF president Mary Joyce Moncupa-Malayba, "There are 21 officially selected entries coming from Canada, Greenland, India, Iran, Nigeria, the Philippines, Turkey, and the United States. Unfortunately, there are no submissions for the Indigenous Film category." Other categories are: Short Film, Full-length Feature (Fiction), Full-length Feature (Non-fiction), Student/New Web Media.

Buyers will then receive a link to watch the films through Filmocracy, a hosting platform for virtual film festivals.
This year’s jurors are Toronto-based award-winning filmmaker Patrick Alcedo who won in the Cannes Independent Film Festival, Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, Centennial Best Canadian Film, and San Francisco Short Film Festival, among others; director of cinematography from India Mukesh Gnanesh; head writer for a few KBP Golden Dove Awards, Star Awards for Television, and Gawad Urian Awards Arnolfo Enriquez; and the Chairman of Jurors Shayne Metcalfe who is the Head Instructor of Motion Picture Arts at the Recording Arts Institute Saskatoon.
