Daly City, CA — Seafood City Supermarket, the leading Filipino supermarket chain in North America, will open its doors at St. Francis Square in Daly City on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 9:00 AM, with a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony, exclusive opening day promotions, and community festivities planned throughout the weekend.

This marks the brand’s first-ever location in Daly City, long considered the cultural heart of the Filipino American community in the Bay Area.

“Some might ask, ‘Why open in Daly City when there’s already a Seafood City in South San Francisco nearby?’” said Matthew Go, President of Seafood City. “Our answer is simple: because Daly City holds deep meaning for Filipino families. We’re not just opening another branch, we’re honoring a community that has supported us from the very beginning.”

Seafood City began in 1989 in National City, California, with a mission to bring the comfort and flavor of home to Filipinos living abroad. Now with 38 locations across North America, the company remains focused on serving its community with care, pride, and innovation.

More Than a Supermarket — A Cultural and Culinary Destination
What makes the Daly City branch unique is its brand new Food Hall, a carefully curated dining destination designed to showcase the diversity of Filipino cuisine in one dynamic space. Customers can enjoy everything from traditional grilled favorites to regional specialties and beloved classics—whether dining in or taking food to-go.

“This new Food Hall is a reflection of who we are,” said Go. “We’ve created a place that doesn’t just sell food—it celebrates our culture, our tastes, and our stories.”

The Food Hall will include concepts like Grill City, Baker’s Avenue, Sizzle and Noodle Street that capture the heart and soul of Pinoy cooking.

Opening Day Specials and Community Giveaways
To mark the grand opening, Seafood City will roll out a series of promotions designed to welcome customers and celebrate the occasion:

  • The first 200 customers to arrive at the Daly City location on July 31 at 9:00 AM, with a minimum $35 grocery purchase, will receive a coupon for a 15-pound bag of Calrose rice for just $1.00. This exclusive offer reflects Seafood City’s continued commitment to supporting Filipino families with affordable staples that matter most.
  • In addition, grand opening weekend festivities will feature free gifts, including branded insulated bottles, mugs, and reusable shopping bags, available at both the new Daly City and the nearby South San Francisco location. These giveaways are available while supplies last.
This grand opening not only introduces a revitalized community hub at St. Francis Square but also highlights a double celebration across both stores—uniting longtime patrons and new customers alike. (Note: The $1 rice promotion is exclusive to the Daly City location on opening day.)

Community leaders, local officials, and special guests will attend a pre-opening ceremony, joining the Seafood City team in celebrating the store’s launch and the revitalization of St. Francis Square as a thriving cultural hub.
Seafood City will anchor a vibrant mix of tenants in the newly renovated plaza, including soon  Supreme Pot and soon to open Goldilocks, Valerio’s, Café 86, Burma Café, St. Francis Liquor, TC Pastry, Speed Queen Laundry, The Elite Salon, and Abe’s Barber Shop.

Serving the Next Generation of Global Filipinos
In addition to its in-store offerings, Seafood City continues to evolve through digital innovation. With the SFC+ App, customers can:
  • Earn SFC+ Points and use them for grocery savings
  • Order groceries or Grill City meals online for pickup and delivery
  • Send money in store and through their app to loved ones in the Philippines via BDO Remit
  • Explore investment opportunities in the Philippines through SMDC Real Estate
“Our mission has always been to serve the community,” said Go. “Today, we’re doing that by blending tradition with technology—making sure our services grow with the needs of every Filipino family, wherever they are.”
