March 9, 2024 – Kabataan Culture, a leading education nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching Tagalog and promoting Filipino culture, is excited to announce their National campaign launch at The Barrio @ SXSW. This event will celebrate Filam Creatives in their respective industries, including Film, TV, Music, nonprofit, and entrepreneurship.
The event will take place at the Zilker Lodge at Austin Sunshine Camps on the last day of the official SXSW. The Barrio @ SXSW aims to bring together the Filipino-American community in Austin, Texas to celebrate their heritage and promote cultural awareness. Attendees can expect Filipino food from Austin local Chef Rene Helit, music, and performances from local musician Jonavi and Bay Area’s Summer Sevill, as well as multiple panels, including Cinema Salas Artis’yan Forum with award-winning FilAm filmmakers PJ Raval, Gio Espiritu, and Michelle Josue and 2023 SXSW Special jury awardee Kayla Abuda Galang.
