Metro Manila Filmfest Best Picture nominee "Love At First Stream" now streaming on iWantTFC, TFC IPTV On Demand
Cathy Garcia-Molina-directed romcom film captures love on digital platform and family dynamic during the time of pandemic

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, February 23, 2022 - Let's face it: growing up as a teen actually means trying to figure out who you are apart from your parents. And as the teen attempts to disentangle from the parents, the very people who have controlled every aspect of a child's life growing up, that's when disagreements and misunderstandings overwhelm a parent-child relationship like a powerful deluge.
This parent-child dynamic is the underlying foundation of "Love at First Stream", an official entry to the 2021 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) of ABS-CBN Star Cinema last December, now streaming on iWantTFC and TFC IPTV Video On Demand. Award-winning, blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina (My Ex and Whys, The Hows of Us, Hello, Love, Goodbye) described the film as her "love letter to all generations because this film is not only for teenagers but also for parents like me. I don't want parents fighting with their kids. I want them to understand each other, hopefully, through this film."
While the stars headlining the film are today's fast-rising new faces on screen from Rise Artists Studio -- Daniela Stranner, Anthony Jennings, Kaori Oinuma and Jeremiah Lisbo -- playing integral roles in the story are screen veterans like Agot Isidro, Hyubs Azarcon, Igiboy Flores, Melissa Gibbs, Pinky Amador, Almira Muhlach, RJ Ledesma with the special participation of Tonton Gutierrez. Gail Banawis and Vien King are launched in introductory roles.
The foundation of the story is the parent-child dynamic, but Molina said that the film explores the digital platform as the new medium in establishing relationships. It is highly interesting to note that the phenomenally successful Filipino social networking service and livestreaming platform, kumu, is integrated almost like a character to the story.
The story unfolds with V (Daniela Stranner) becoming increasingly desperate to leave her crowded household and her daily arguments with her mother (played by Agot Isidro) during the pandemic. Her solution (or so she thinks) is to make a living as a vlogger. She enlists the help of her charming neighbor Tupe (Anthony Jennings) and her cousin Megumi (Kaori Oinuma) but with little success. But when a livestreamed dating show with Megumi's dashing classmate Gino (Jeremiah Lisbo) captured the attention V needed, she finds herself caught in a complicated and complex situation where she now discovers the costly price of fame and fortune.
"Love at First Stream" scored a total of seven nominations at last year's MMFF, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Daniella Stranner, Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Original Theme Song (No Stopping You by SB19), and Best Visual Effects.
