LOS ANGELES - More than a year into the pandemic, our nation, and our communities have gone through unexpected adversities such as loss of income, displacement, threats to overall physical and mental health, and even death. As we slowly recover from the pandemic, PWC calls on the support of various sectors to cultivate a thriving community. The Pilipino Workers Center (PWC) launched a fundraiser in May 2021 entitled “Together We Thrive,” with the goal of raising $50,000 to support PWC programs that would provide relief and assistance to immigrant workers, low-income individuals and families, victims of wage theft and human trafficking, and those who are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fundraiser will culminate in a virtual event on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm PST., via Zoom and Facebook Live. The event’s program includes cultural performances, speeches, and messages from community leaders and PWC members. A grand raffle draw will also take place during the program with various prizes such as an entertainment bundle, kitchen bundle, gaming bundle, and more. PWC will also honor pandemic heroes who have made great contributions to the community’s strength and survival in 2020.
